What's the difference between African American hair and Afro-hispanic/Afro-caribbean hair?

I know alot of black hispanics(morenos) who have long hair. But i always see African Americans (not saying all) with short hair, is it different care or genes? Because my own Grandmother is from Dominican Republic and she's a morena and her hair is real long. I'm just wondering...What's the difference between African American hair and Afro-hispanic/Afro-caribbean hair?
black hispanics are not morenos, they are black. if a ';moreno'; has long hair it's because he/she is not 100% black, is mixed with white or native american indian. african american (black american) rarelly mix with other races unlike black hispanics .What's the difference between African American hair and Afro-hispanic/Afro-caribbean hair?
The afro part of those epithets denote that the people decend from the afro continent - that it Africa.

You can get Caribbeans that do not descend from Africa but the ones that do are known as Afro-Caribbeans.

African American hair is therefore pretty much the same texture as Afro-Caribbean hair as the descendants are from Africa.

Hope that helps
its genetically inherited :)
no one knows
It's the genes as far as hair type and texture goes and it's inproper hair care as to why many blacks don't have very long hair.

African-Americans who are the decendents of slaves are not pure blacks - they'll have some other race mixture in their gene pool starting from the slave days.

It's probably the same for black hispanics and Dominicans who are of African decent - they're not pure blacks. Contrasty, I've seen a few pure black Africans who have waist-length hair because they properly care for it.

Those race mixtures play a role in hair type. WHat genes you get is random, but that plays a role in why blacks come in every hair color, hair texture, and hair type under the sun. BLack American's (not just americans) usually have shorter hair because the chemicals they use to straighten their hair are very harsh and contributes to breakage, plus it makes the hair weak and prone to breakage. Hair dye does the same. Many blacks don't know how to properly care for their hair and they try to treat it the same way other races treat their hair. Blacks have a very fragile hair type compared to other races, so it easily breaks, which is why they cannot treat it like other races treat theirs. Many blacks don't know their hair is very fragile so they handle it harshly which contributes to breakage and shorter hair. My sister has had short hair her whole life, she's in her late 30s and her hair has always been a few inches below her ear or shorter. It's not that way because of genes, but because of improper hair care. She does her own relaxers to save money and she overlaps it which causes the major breakage that keeps her at the same length. If she started taking proper care of her hair then she'll begin to achieve a longer length. Another one of my sisters takes very good care of her hair and its down her back and keeps getting longer.

It's not impossible for blacks to grow extremely long hair, but they have to learn how to properly take care of it to reap the full benefits of a longer length. Plus, weaves and wigs are also protective styles, so you might see someone who's wearing wigs, weave or braids, and they're doing this to protect their real hair - which could be extremely long, and it's long because they're protecting it with those styles - it keeps it from breaking off because they don't have to style it regularly.
