I am an african american woman and I work out everyday and I get really sweaty. I also have natural hair that I flat iron to get straight, but when I work out and get sweaty, my hair gets sweaty and ruins the straight style. Are there any products that I can use to keep my hair straight or anything I can do to keep sweat from my head? How do I keep my african american hair straight while working out everyday?
i am assuming you intend to keep your hair natural. there is no real way to keep it absolutely straight, but the best way would be to keep your hair in a wrap (the hairstyle) while working out. If you can find an attractive satin scarf to wear over your hair and put a hat on top of that most people won't mind/notice. then use a cool blow dryer to dry your hair after working out without unwrapping the hair. you will still have a few crinkles here and there, but it still be easier to maintain.
i also struggle with this issue, and i have yet to find a product that works helps or improves the results. How do I keep my african american hair straight while working out everyday?
Either wrap it around your head and wear a scarf, or love and accept your natural texture and stay natural so you can stop worrying about keeping the ';straight look';. Wouldn't be nice to not have to worry about that anymore. You'll probably end up wrapping it.
I have this problem often!!! I invested in a lace front wig to give me a break from applying heat products. I have done the sew in weave extensions. But I am currently researching a new product in the states called Brazilian Keratian Treatment. It is a semi-permanent process that involves a keratin solution that lies on top of the the cuticle not inside the cuticle.
Unfortunately, there is not a product to keep a result like that. Relaxing and perming are not solutions either. Wrap you hair before you work out and when you get home, sit underneath a hood hair dryer for 10-15 minutes. Remember to moisturize.

I would try a relaxer which will keep for several weeks. Straightening your hair only lasts until your hair gets wet.
well you could wear a bandana or sweat band to keep sweat from it or wear a hat but that might not be so good
umm.....................perm it?
What's the difference btwn African hair and African American hair? What's the hair that the folks in Jamaica have called? Weird.
