How to grow out my broken african american hair?

I've had perms in the past that broke off and damaged my hair to the point that it stays straight/curly when wet. Now my hair is breaking off in the back and i want to find a way to make it stronger, healthier and to grow as long as it was when i was younger before i ever had perms in my hair. I have thick, coarse, curly. dry hair that feels very soft to the touch. How to grow out my broken african american hair?
You have the same problem I have. What you need to do is get some good shampoo that helps moisturize and helps hair damage. Then, while it's still wet, use some Aussie 3 Minute Miracle. Of course leave it in your hair for 3 min then wash it out. When you're done with all that and you're about to style your hair. Make sure your hair is still damp so you can put some leave in conditioner. Most kinds work. Comb it through your hair especially on your roots and ends. It will really make a difference. Hope this helps! How to grow out my broken african american hair?
Well hair growth is entirely biological and has nothing to do with the condition of your hair. Hair grows around 1/2 an inch a month and it will always grow at the same rate aside from biological changes or medication. So your hair will grow as long as it did as long as you take care of it. You have to use salon quality shampoo and conditioner to start with. Drugstore junk is really harsh, dries your hair out, and causes a good deal of breakage. Salon quality conditioner can put it in as good of shape as it is going to get. Stop using chemicals and avoid heat like the plague, those are the real causes of breakage. Long term this combination will give you amazing hair, but it will take some time.
Ok this same thing happened to me. My hair was reeaally short in the back from breaking off and it stopped growing so I decided to cut the perm out. My hairdresser would cut like an inch or so every few weeks until it was all gone. I wore my hair in like braids and w/extensions for a couple months until the perm was all out. Then I wore my hair natural for about a year and took really good care of it. In june I got a relaxer for the first time in like two years and my hair is sooo healthy. I keep it healthy by washing/conditioning every week, moisturizing the ends, and wrapping it every night.
well shes right hair grows about 1/2 an inch every month for all types of hair. i have African american hair and i just now started looking this up, but all you need to do is keep your hair maintained and don't overdo it. hair growth is a natural process. hope this helps. oh and by the way my hair was broken and there was so much damage but then i kept getting weave and my hair grew and throughout this summer im weave less and growing my hair now my hair is healthier than its ever been.
