How long will african american hair last if straightened in a salon?

I have a lot of hair; it's shoulder length, coarse, african-american hair. I'm planning on getting it relaxed and straightened at a salon. I was wondering, since I haven't had my hair done in a salon since I was 7-8, how long it will last?

Thanks:)How long will african american hair last if straightened in a salon?
to figure out how to pick a perm first of all, ur supposed to take a strand of ur hair from your head. if it has a z pattern, use a perm for course hair and if its a s pattern, use a perm for medium hair. but other then that, usually perms last 2-3 months. i personally suggest try to perm your hair after about 4 months and ONLY PERM THE NEW GROWTH. if you perm hair thats already been permed it wont be good, its overprocessing and it WILL break off your hair. you want to keep the ends cliped only if theyre split though. and if your hair is shoulder length, to get it to grow after the perm ur supposed to wear it up in ponytails b.c. if its shoulder length it will brush up against your clothing causing it to break off. i know. ive been there. hope this help! good luck girl!! hope u like your new hair! lolHow long will african american hair last if straightened in a salon?
My stupid suggestion do not put rubbish called perm or relaxer on your hair in a long run you will loose your hair just stay natural or lock or twist your hair with natural products

It all depend on the band of the perm and how well your hair takes the perm.

You should only retouch your hair every 6 to 8 weeks, and this would only be done to the new growth. In between your perms, you want to wash your hair and hot oil, condition. With our hair we can not wash our hair everyday, this cause your hair to dry out and lose it鈥檚 natural oils. I on the other hand perm my hair every 4weeks, only because I like to keep that fresh look of having a perm, THIS IS NOT RECOMMEND for any one else, I have been perming my own hair for years now and I cut my ends of my hair. I have never had any issues with the perm and my hair is in the middle of my back full and long. Hope this helps
I just had that done last month and make sure that the hair stylist sprays you down with a lot of hair spray especially in the middle of when you parted the hair. It really doesn't last long.
